Health

Health in Matcha Flavoured works as in vanilla Minecraft, except that it never regenerates on its own and the player's maximum health changes over the course of a world. Players start with 10 hearts (20 (
× 10)), can raise this to 30 hearts with crystal hearts, and lose maximum health when they die.
Mechanics
Maximum health
The pack stores each player's maximum health in a scoreboard and sets the player's max_health attribute from it.[1]
| Value | Health | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Starting health | 20 ( |
Taken from the player's attribute when they first join.[2] |
| Maximum | 60 ( |
30 hearts; crystal hearts can't be used beyond this.[3] |
| Floor on Easy | 20 ( |
Death never lowers maximum health below 10 hearts. |
| Floor on Normal and Hard | 20 ( |
The player's minimum hearts, lowered by progression. See Death#Minimum hearts. |
- Each death lowers maximum health by 1 heart (2 on Hard).
- Each crystal heart used raises it by 1 heart.
- Staying withered for 8 seconds lowers it like a death; see Wither effect.
Temporary extra health from
Health Boost and
Absorption works as in vanilla and isn't counted.
Healing
The natural_health_regeneration game rule is turned off, so a full hunger bar never heals the player.[4] Health has to be restored actively:
- Food: most of the pack's foods heal through Instant Health or
Regeneration instead of restoring hunger. See Hunger.
Raw Estus, dropped by undead mobs, heals the player when picked up.- A warding stone heals players and other friends of villagers nearby.
- Some equipment, such as Shakudo equipment, restores health.
- A crystal heart, when used, sets health to 1 and then applies Regeneration XI for 3 seconds.
Hunger
The hunger bar is hidden and held at a level where the player can always sprint. It has no effect on health.

Trivia
- The developer removed natural regeneration so that food takes over the role of potions: "You have to eat to heal and you're never given a limitation on sprinting."[5]
