Bulk blocks are packed stacks of building blocks sold by the Mason. Each one unpacks into 64 of its block when used. One Obol buys between 64 and 384 blocks this way.

Bulk blocks are only sold by the Mason, which has no other trades. All trades cost 1 obol:

Names in italics are descriptive: these six bulk blocks have no name in the language file, so in game they show their raw translation keys (for example item.kleispack.trade.bulk_terracotta). See Issues.

Usage

Using a bulk block (pressing use while holding it) unpacks it instantly: one bulk block is used up and replaced by 64 of its block, which go straight into the inventory. Unpacking takes no time and plays the sound of a stone block falling. The tooltip shows what the bulk block holds (for example "x64 Andesite") and "Use to unpack".

Behavior

A bulk block is a poisonous potato with its food properties removed. It is made "consumable" with a use time of 0 seconds and no effects, and the unpacked blocks are its use remainder, the item left behind after it is consumed. As with any use remainder, if the inventory is full the blocks are dropped instead.

Loot tables

The data pack also has a loot table for each bulk block except dirt, under matcha:bulk_block/ (for example /loot give @s loot matcha:bulk_block/andesite). No chest, mob or trade uses them. The items they give unpack the same way, but use the vanilla block's model as their icon instead of the bulk block model.

Issues

• Bulk terracotta, malachite, cinnabar, blackstone, smooth basalt and smooth quartz have no English name or tooltip, so they display their translation keys.

Trivia

• Bulk limestone is internally bulk_stone, bulk flowstone is bulk_dripstone, and bulk malachite is bulk_prismarine, after the vanilla blocks the pack renames.
